Hostels are not always "maned" on reception There was a code for the door to get in & to my horror....in a dorm with 24 beds I was the only one there..even the receptionist seemed to have clocked off 🙈 as I battled my fear and contemplated checking out I decided to put on my big girl pants and stay. 45 minutes later another walker arrived. We chatted for a little while and the following morning when I was getting up...he was leaving.
I set off about 10am. It was a stunning walk through meadows and there was some wooded areas but I have to say I preferred the landscape so far on the Frances way. It is definitely a lot more urban on this leg so far. 8kms in, thank goodness for complimentary sanitary towels in a cafe
My left heel started to burn and of course I didn't bring plasters 🙃 thankfully I had a moment and I stuck a pad on my heel and it saved 10 more kms of pain.
I didn't check how long it took me to get to Oporrino I've decided not to keep track of the time. I still had plenty of time in the day to sit and read my book. I checked into rincon del peregrino again just 15e for the night in a mixed dorm (It was full) , if you are a light sleeper I would suggest earplugs. Snoring is part of the package 🤣 the bag definitely seems, heavier this Yr compared to last but I had to bring a rain coat and my "Ireland coat" because home was freezing so I'm carrying a bit more 🙃
I'm all for making things harder for myself...its in my dna, but I took myself to a hairdressers to get a wash and blow dry. It cost 21e I got TWO head massages a conditioning treatment and a hot towel for my neck. I didn't think how good it would make me feel! I only did it because I didn't bring shampoo 😅 il be treating myself again before the journey is over this week
