A little story about women
Share
My mam called me first thing this morning "il bring you lunch kate"
Not long after I arrived in the shop along came Louise or loulou as I call her with a bunch of flowers to celebrate the day. Her daughter made my FREE PALESTINE bracelet and I told her a gorgeous story about how another women wore one of the bracelets and was in Rome, she met a Palestine woman on a platform waiting for a train and both of them hugged from the solidarity. All from a braclet made in Cork by another female.
As days go it was one of the quietest days I've spent in the shop since I opened, and by the time 3pm came around, I was in a funk 🙃 (even though lou had given ne flowers and mam brought me lunch🙃)
Then, along came @pottymouthmom1 to help set up for our event. Sabrina does amazing work for her community. I asked her to help out a few weeks ago, and without a question, she agreed. She 'womaned' the raffle and told people to take a treat for themselves.
I noticed every woman that arrived wasn't keen on taking things for free. All of them wanted to give a donation or feel guilty for taking something for themselves!! Isn't it terrible that we feel guilty for getting something for just being ourselves.
By the time 5pm came, it was a gorgeous couple of hours spent and new and regular people came and celebrated the day together. Sharing lovely stories and having a laugh.
I sometimes get caught up in the "number/attendance" and worry about if they'll be enough people at events I run.
But then I realise the goodness isn't in the number of people it's in the feeling that we get from being connected and celebrating each other.
The draw was won by a favourite woman of mine - Pat McGowan, who is a huge supporter of peach vintage. And is a regular visitor to the shop. Pictured here with Sabrina and my other wonderful friend @orlacorkendowarrior orla never lets me down even if she really has too!!!
The evening was topped off with gorgeous chats and dinner with my other Orla @orla_mcandrew_food ❤️
Happy international womens day to you all.
I will take all items not taken to Cuanlee refuge next week ✌🏾✌🏼✌🏿✌🏻✌🏽
